On 16 June in Madrid, the Spanish National Association of Public Environmental Companies (ANEPMA), chaired by Rafael Arjona, concluded a cooperation agreement with the Catalan Association for Energy Recovery from Municipal Solid Waste (ACEVERSU), chaired by Joan Gaya. Cooperation will be focused on obtaining criteria, promoting and providing joint support for treatment projects in which waste is used as a resource, the environmental impacts of its management are reduced, and steps are finally taken towards compliance with EU directives and the new Circular Economy Package planned successively for 2020 and 2030.

The creation of a working and development group on this issue and exchanges of knowledge at the forthcoming ANEPMA conference, to be held in Mérida between 15 and 17 November this year, will be among the initial actions bringing this agreement to life.
